Front-page concerns (from May 3, 2007)

These are just a few of the things at the front of my mind lately...

1) How can I be more environmentally friendly? I'm looking into products like Seventh Generation (and apparently Method). They're more expensive and harder to find, but I think they might be worth it for peace of mind. (Doing what I can.) As for household cleaners, all I really need is water, soap, vinegar, baking soda (though I haven't tried it yet), and rubbing alcohol. I may even try using newspaper instead of paper towels to clean glass!

2) How can I eat healthier? I want to go organic...at least partially. The Colbert Report covered the reason growth hormones are bad in cows/milk. It was gross! Now I can't stand the idea of drinking regular milk...I got my first container of organic last week (but we had to finish off the regular stuff first, so I haven't tasted it). I don't think we'll go soy, though...we like the taste of milk. And I'm trying to get more produce (not usually organic tho) and yogurt and cut out more processed foods. It's friggin' expensive to do this, but I'm still sticking to my budget, just buying less. The one thing I think we really need to do is cut out soda for body and money...but it's just not happening any time soon. I have to have flavor...and I have yet to find a suitable alternative.

Rather than reproduce all my "green" posts here, go to my other journal here.

I've been doing the healthy eating (more or less LOL) for almost a year now. I talked with Jenny(j8nny Gerb's mom) a lot about it. She is a great source of info! I lost about 20 pounds in the last year by only following her suggestions (although I do cheat at times).
How was the organic milk?
And I agree, it is so expensive to eat healthy! Especially with the raising food prices. I'm checking here to read your tips :)

That's great (the weight loss)! I hope you continue to see results, especially if you're adding in Walk Away the Pounds. I guess I'll have to work on adding content to my blog if you're checking it out!
