Substance

I haven't been very good about updating my journal. I should do it for my own memory's sake. For example, I met up with a long-lost high school friend back in May (or was it June) and I didn't mention it. I didn't even get pictures! And now I think she's swamped at work with the upcoming DNC or maybe she finds me utterly boring. Either way it'll be awhile before we meet up again.

It's funny how things work out. For example, Bit spiked a fever last Thursday and the ensuing recovery from a random virus is what led to our realization that she has night terrors. I like to see that things happen for a reason.

I'm juggling alot with work, home improvement, housekeeping, and family time. But I think overall I'm having the time of my life. We are strongly considering having baby #2 in 2010 (with conception in mid-2009). Finances are the main hold-up, but so is making sure Bit is ready (and we are, too). If the stars seem right and money is still tight, I think I'll consider different daycare options. Possibly another in-home situation, though I'd prefer to keep Bit at her current facility. It's just so expensive! We might have them in different daycares initially.

I've also worried about being home alone with 2 kids every night and how to juggle dinnertime. Right now it works to feed Bit, then make dinner and eat after she's in bed. But I don't want to do that forever. The kids need to know about family meal time. Granted we have breakfast together, but it's not the same. So last night we came up with the idea that N will change his hours next year. If he goes in earlier, he can be home in time to pick up Bit from daycare. (I'm pretty adamant about both of us being involved in her daily routine, sharing pick-ups and drop-offs.) It means I start doing the drop-offs, but we get family dinners and I get uninterrupted time to cook!

I'm looking forward to that, though I want to wait till Bit's 2 before making such a big change. On that note, I can't believe it's only 4 months till her birthday!!!
